Linen FAQ
About our linen
Our premium linen is crafted from European flax, a sustainable plant fiber that uses less water and fewer resources than cotton. Known for its breathability, flax linen keeps you cool and comfortable with its lightweight feel and hypoallergenic properties.
The real flex of this fiber? It softens beautifully with each wash, developing a naturally relaxed texture that perfectly captures the laid-back, luxurious essence of our brand.
Does linen wrinkle?
Wrinkles are a natural characteristic of 100% pure linen and are part of its charm. The subtle crinkles give linen its signature relaxed look, which we love at Santai.
We say embrace the wrinkles! But if you prefer a smoother finish, here’s how to minimize them: remove your linen from the washer as soon as the cycle ends, and iron it while it’s still slightly damp using a warm iron. If ironing isn’t your thing, a quick steam can also do the trick.
When it comes to packing for a trip, try rolling your linen instead of folding it. This will help minimize wrinkles and save space in your suitcase.
What is the OEKO-TEX® Standard?
The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is certification label for textiles tested for harmful substances. It sets the benchmark for textile safety, from yarn to finished product. Every item bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances.
How to wash & care for your linen
The key to washing linen is to avoid hot water, which causes shrinkage. Instead, choose a cold cycle with similar colours. For those who prefer a smoother linen look, be sure to take your linen out of the washer promptly to reduce natural crinkling.
When it comes to drying, steer clear of high heat. Do not tumble dry, instead, hang and air-dry your linen. If you prefer a more polished finish, you can lightly iron or steam your linen on a warm (not hot) setting.
Does linen shrink?
In short, yes, as a natural fiber, linen can shrink, but the good news is—we pre-wash all of our linen to minimize any major shrinkage. This means your linen Santai pieces will maintain their fit after washing, while also feeling extra soft right from the start.
